As lead agency for the Bay Area Homeless Alliance (BAHA), Community Technology Alliance was awarded the prestigious 1999 Computerworld Smithsonian Award for Alleviating Homelessness Through Technology. Nominated by Lucent Technologies in the Government and Nonprofit Category, Community Technology Alliance was honored for providing the computer-based information infrastructure to link homeless service providers and homeless people with needed social and support services, including VoiceMail and the toll-free Shelter Bed Hotline throughout the nine San Francisco Bay Area counties.
