Community Voicemail Program

Community Technology Alliance in partnership with Santa Clara County joined the national campaign to assist chronically homeless people. The project is named “Housing 1000 Silicon Valley” and our goal is to permanently house 1,000 Homeless individuals by 2013.

In conjunction with the National 100k Homes Campaign, our Housing 1000 Silicon Valley is dedicated locating our most vulnerable and long-term homeless individuals to place them into permanent housing with the services they need to stay housed. In order to accomplish this, a critical service identified by our local campaign is to provide each client access to telecommunication through our Community Voicemail (CVM) program.

A CVM number allows each client to be reachable in an easy, efficient and effective way. The ability to communicate directly with clients is a critical step in order to locate individuals identified for housing.

We need your help to fund the registration of clients with CVM numbers.

  • $5 enables us to register one client during “1,000 Homes” registration week. Our goal is to register 1,000 clients.
  • $60 enables one client to keep their voicemail number for a year.
  • $$ allows you to select the amount, how many clients to register and how long they will have their CVM number.

Our local CVM data for 2010 indicates that client stay on CVM for an average of 8 months. Among those clients, 66% achieved one or more of their goals, including: employment, housing, healthcare, safe communication, and access to social services.

Hear our clients share their best messages they have ever received while on the CVM program.
